Shyam Stones

If you’re driving down Sarjapur Road, you’ll find us at the Vmr Complex in Doddakannelli. Shyam Stones is right there at 33/2. This area has grown a lot lately, so there’s always construction going on nearby. It feels like the dust never settles, but we’re used to it by now. We keep a variety of stones in the yard, mostly things that people around here need for their renovations. It’s not a huge space, but we make it work by stacking things carefully. Sometimes it’s a bit of a puzzle trying to get a specific slab out from the middle of a pile. We spend a lot of our time just shifting things around with the equipment. It’s physical work and your hands get rough after a few years of doing this. We aren't corporate people with suits; we’re usually covered in a bit of grit from the stone. People stop by on their way home to look at samples. We just let them walk around and see for themselves what fits their budget. The sun can get quite hot hitting the Vmr Complex, so we usually try to get the heavy loading done in the early hours. It’s just a regular shop where we answer questions if anyone has them. That’s just the way it is here. Most days are about managing the stock and making sure the trucks can get in and out of the complex without too much trouble.
