Shilpa Mens Saloon

Shilpa Mens Saloon is located at number 10, Sanjeevapa Lane. We are just off Avenue Road in Bangalore 560002. If you find the Avenue Tattoo Studio, we are very close to that. It’s a narrow lane and things can get quite cramped when the delivery bikes are parked outside. I’ve been cutting hair here for a long time now. My father started a small shop and then I took over. We mostly do basic haircuts and beard trims. We use old-style razors and we sharpen them on a leather strap. It’s a bit old-fashioned but the customers like it that way. The walls are painted a pale green color that has faded over the years. We have a small television in the corner that usually plays the news or some cricket match if India is playing. There is always a bit of talk about politics or the local markets while the scissors are clicking away. We don't take appointments. You just come in, sit on the wooden bench, and wait your turn. Sometimes the wait is long on Sundays. We have a few regular magazines for people to read but they are quite old. We just try to provide a decent cut for a fair price. It’s a man’s place, no fuss and no fancy smelling soaps. Just a spray bottle of water and some talcum powder at the end to finish up.
