Shantha Doors

Shantha Doors is situated near the Kamakshi Temple in Kagadasa Pura, which is part of C.V. Raman Nagar. We make and sell doors, obviously. It’s a noisy business with all the sawing and sanding going on. The workshop is usually covered in sawdust by the end of the day. We don't mind it much; it just shows we’ve been working. Being near the temple means we get a lot of foot traffic and people stopping by to ask questions. We don't have a fancy showroom. We just show people what we’re working on right there in the shop. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but you get to see exactly what you’re buying. We’ve been in C.V. Raman Nagar for a good while now. The team is small, just a couple of guys who know their way around wood and tools. We don't use expensive machinery for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand because that’s how we learned. It takes longer, but it feels more real that way. We don't have any polished sales pitches. We just tell you what kind of wood it is and how long it’ll take to finish. It’s a basic way of doing things, but it’s served us well. The temple bells are a nice sound to work to every day when the morning prayers start.
