Sai Balaji Hotel

Our hotel is in Chikka Bellandur, over in Sector 24, building number 2. When we say hotel, we really mean a place to eat, which is how people around here use the word. We open up at five in the morning to start the first batch of idlis and vadas. You can see the steam coming out of the kitchen long before the first customers arrive. We have these long tables and some plastic chairs that have seen better days, but they do the job. The floors are stone and we wash them down with a hose every evening. We serve a lot of coffee in those small steel cups, and there’s always a bit of a clatter from the spoons and plates. It’s a noisy place, especially when the morning commuters stop in for a quick bite before heading to the main road. We don't have a fancy decor, just some calendars on the wall and a small shrine near the cash box. The kitchen staff stays busy grinding the batter and frying things up in the big pans. We try to keep things moving so no one has to wait too long. It’s just a local spot where you can get a hot meal and go about your day. We’ve been here in Bellandur for years and we know the rhythm of the street. Sometimes we run out of sambar early on busy days.
