S R Battery Service

If you’re heading down Kamanahalli Main Road, you’ll see the bus stop, and we are right near it. Our shop, S R Battery Service, is in the Padma Complex at No 16 on the 3rd Main. It’s a handy spot because people often realize their vehicle battery is dying right when they’re stuck in traffic nearby. The shop always smells a bit like lead and acid, which I don’t even notice anymore, but visitors usually do. We have batteries stacked up along the walls, mostly for cars and bikes, but we handle UPS units too. It’s dirty work, often getting grease on your clothes or a bit of dust on your hands from moving the heavy casings around. We have a small bench where we test the voltage to see if a battery can be saved or if it’s completely dead. I try to be honest about it; if it's gone, it's gone. The complex itself is quite old, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. More cars, more traffic, and definitely more people needing their power backups fixed. When the power goes out in the area, our phone starts ringing immediately. It’s just me and a couple of guys working here, trying to keep up with the repairs. We keep a pot of water in the corner for anyone who’s waiting. It isn't much, but it gets the job done for the people in Kamanahalli.
