Richards Electronics

Tucked away on Pillappa Lane near the Jamia Masjid Road, you’ll find our little spot, Richards Electronics. We’ve been at Sree Ganesh Sadan in Mariyappana Palya for a good number of years. The shop is usually crowded with old television sets, opened-up radios, and tangled wires. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we hate throwing away any part that might be useful later on. You never know when a specific capacitor or a tiny screw from a twenty-year-old device will come in handy. People from the neighborhood bring us their remotes that stopped working or fans that make too much noise. We spend a lot of time squinting at circuit boards under a bright lamp. Sometimes the repairs take longer than we expected because parts are hard to find, but we try to stay honest about what we can actually fix. The mosque nearby helps us keep track of time with the calls to prayer throughout the day. It’s a small, busy space where the soldering iron is almost always hot. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know our way around a motherboard. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with customers talking all at once, but we manage. If you are looking for 107, just look for the pile of electronic boards near the entrance. It’s a simple life, fixing things that others might just toss in the bin.
