Rachana Industries is out in the Vivekananda Industrial Estate in Chikka Banavara, at unit 41610. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always the sound of machinery and trucks moving around in the background. Our place is basically a big workshop with a lot of metal parts and oil on the floor. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but we get the work done. Most of the guys here wear overalls that are permanently stained because that’s just the nature of the job. We spend our hours cutting, bending, and fixing things according to whatever orders come in. The heat can get pretty bad in the middle of the day because the roof is just corrugated metal, so we drink a lot of water and take breaks when we can. We don't really have a proper office, just a small desk in the corner with a lot of papers and some old coffee mugs. People from other units often drop by to borrow tools or just to see how things are going. It’s a rough environment but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. We don't do anything fancy, just follow the plans and make sure the machines are running properly. At the end of the shift, we lock up the big rolling door and head home, usually covered in some kind of grease or dust.
