About R K Granites – Building & Construction Material in Bengaluru
R K Granites is right by the Cheju bus stand in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar. It's a busy spot, number 21 to be exact. The sound of buses pulling in and out is something we hear all day long. Sometimes the ground even shakes a bit when the big ones go by. We have various types of stone slabs sitting around the yard. Most of the day is spent moving these heavy pieces of granite. It's back-breaking work and your hands get really rough and dry from the dust. We keep a small desk in the corner for the ledger. It’s not a fancy office at all. There’s a lot of grey dust that settles on everything no matter how much we sweep. Customers walk in from the bus stand sometimes just to ask for the time or where the next bus is headed. We don’t mind. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, making the stones hot to the touch. We usually have a water cooler tucked away in the shade. Dealing with granite means you have to be patient because nothing moves fast when it weighs that much. I’ve been here at this location for a while now and I know the neighborhood pretty well. The tea seller across the street knows my order by heart. It’s just a regular life here, surrounded by stone and the smell of diesel from the buses.
