Practicing Chartered Accountant

I run my practice as a chartered accountant here in Bangalore. The office is located in the 560 079 zip code area. It’s a busy part of Karnataka, but the office itself stays relatively calm. I spend most of my days looking at tax returns and audit reports. It's not the most exciting work for everyone, but I find it satisfying to get the math right. The room is filled with stacks of files and books about tax laws. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so I’ve seen all sorts of financial situations. I don’t have a big staff, maybe just one assistant to help with the filing. We drink a lot of tea to stay focused during the busy tax season. The furniture is a bit old, but it’s comfortable enough for long hours. Clients come in and sit on the plastic chairs to talk about their earnings. I try to explain things simply without using too much jargon. Bangalore has changed a lot since I started, with more traffic and noise, but this little corner stays the same. I don’t do much advertising; people usually find me through word of mouth. It’s a steady life and I like the independence of having my own place. I try to keep the desk organized, but by Friday, it's usually covered in notes and receipts. That's just how the job goes when you are working with numbers.
