I run my accounting practice out of a place called Shiva Krupa. It is located at 51/1 on 3rd Cross here in Bangalore. The neighborhood is fairly quiet compared to the main roads, which is helpful when I need to look at tax forms and balance sheets. The office is basically just a ground-floor room in the building. It’s filled with shelves of box files and old ledgers. I have been a chartered accountant for many years, and most of my clients are people from this part of the city. We don't have any corporate branding or a reception desk. Usually, people just knock on the door and we sit down at the big wooden table to go over their papers. It’s a very personal way of doing things. I handle a lot of income tax filings and some company audits too. During the busy months, the office is a bit of a mess with papers everywhere, but I know where everything is. Bangalore has changed so much since I started, but this little corner of 3rd Cross stays pretty much the same. I don't use much fancy software beyond the basics that are required. I prefer the direct approach where I can talk to my clients face-to-face. It’s an honest, simple business. You can find the place easily by looking for the gate near the old tree.
