Pooja Granites

Our shop is at 21/22 Patel Layout, right across from the Indian Oil Bunk on Begur Main Road. It’s a busy spot and the petrol station across the way is a good landmark for people trying to find us. We have various types of granite leaning against the walls and stacked in the back. It’s a lot of grey and black and brown stone everywhere you look. We spend our days measuring slabs and marking them with chalk for the cutters. It’s a bit messy with all the stone dust that flies around, especially when the wind picks up. We have a small table where we sit and talk to folks about their houses. People come in with their measurements on scraps of paper and we try to figure out what fits best. We aren't always perfectly organized and sometimes the yard looks like a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. The traffic on Begur Main Road can be pretty bad in the morning so we try to get the heavy lifting done early before it gets too congested out front. We’ve had some of the same guys working here for years and we all just have a rhythm now. It’s not a glamorous job but there is something nice about seeing a piece of stone go from a rough slab to something finished. We just keep the gates open and see who comes in.
