Our place is located over at Lalbagh West, specifically at 114 Lalbhag Fort Road. If you know the area, you know it stays quite busy with people heading toward the park or going about their business. The building has been here for years, and it shows in some of the corners, but we keep it tidy. Inside, there’s a lot of movement between the kitchen and the dining area. We have several floors, so there is always someone heading up or down the stairs or waiting for the lift. The staff wears a basic uniform and we spend most of the shift just keeping things moving. In the mornings, the smell of breakfast fills the lobby, and you can hear the clinking of plates from the dining hall. We have rooms for people staying over, and those are kept pretty standard with the usual beds and desks. The front desk gets a lot of questions about directions since Fort Road can be a bit confusing for outsiders. It’s a lot of work running a hotel and restaurant combined, and things get loud during lunch hours especially. Sometimes the power goes out for a second before the generator kicks in, which is just part of life here. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some simple stuff on the walls. It’s a practical spot for a meal or a night’s sleep without any extra fuss involved.
