Monisha Aquarium & Acrylic

If you head over to Shukrawar Peth 8 near the Bangalore GPO, you’ll find us at Monisha Aquarium & Acrylic. It’s easy to miss if you aren't looking, but you might see some of our acrylic sheets leaning against the wall outside. The shop smells a bit like saltwater and glue most of the time. We spend our days cutting plastic and cleaning out fish tanks. It’s a bit of a messy job, and our hands are almost always wet or covered in some kind of residue. We started doing this because we liked keeping fish, but then it turned into a full-time thing. Now we spend more time building the tanks than actually looking at the fish inside them. We have a few display tanks that have been here since we opened, and some of the fish in there are like pets to us now. People come in asking all sorts of questions about why their water is cloudy or how to fix a leak. We just tell them what we know from years of doing it. We don't have a website or anything like that, just our shop and our tools. Sometimes we get big orders for custom acrylic displays, and those take up all the floor space for a week. We just work around the mess and keep going. It’s a simple life, and we like the people who stop by to chat about their pets.
