Milan Marbles

Running a marble business at 206 1 Kammanahalli is definitely not a clean job. We are right there in Vijaya Bank Colony, just off the Outer Ring Road in Dodda Banasawadi. If you come by, you’ll probably see a layer of white dust on everything, including our shoes. That’s just part of dealing with stone all day. We have slabs of marble stacked up everywhere, and moving them around takes a lot of care and a bit of muscle. It’s a noisy place too, with the sounds of the trucks and the cutting machines going at it. Most of our day is spent talking to contractors or homeowners who are trying to pick the right piece for their kitchens or floors. It’s not like a regular shop where things are on a shelf. Every piece of stone is different, so it takes time to look through them all. The office is just a small corner with a desk and a couple of chairs where we can sit down and talk about prices and delivery dates. The traffic on the Outer Ring Road can be a real headache, especially when we’re trying to get a delivery out on time. But we’ve been in this spot for a long time, and we know the rhythms of the neighborhood. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but we like the work and the people we meet every day while we're moving heavy slabs around.
