Meera Marbles

Over at No. 38 on the 4th Cross in Pukraj Layout is where you will find us. Bannerghatta Road is right nearby, so it gets pretty packed outside, especially being opposite Venkateshwara Speciality Hospital. Meera Marbles is our spot, and there is a lot of stone and dust around here most days of the week. We open up early and start moving things around. These slabs are heavy and you really have to be careful with your feet. Sometimes we just sit on the front steps when it is quiet and watch the ambulances go into the hospital across the street. It is not a fancy office or anything like that, just a regular shop floor with marble everywhere. The sun comes in through the front in the afternoons and makes the stone look bright, which is a nice change. Most of our time goes into checking the inventory and talking to the guys who do the deliveries. It is a bit of a squeeze sometimes when the trucks come into the layout. Pukraj Layout isn’t very big, so everyone kind of knows everyone else. We have got the 4th Cross pretty much memorized by now. It is just us doing the work, day in and day out. Nothing too special to say about it, we just show up and handle the stone. People wander in from the main road sometimes just to look at the patterns, and that is fine. We try to keep it tidy.
