BVK Iyengar Road is always a mess of people and vehicles, and that is where you will find Maruthi Enterprises. We are located at number 131 in the Huriopet area. If you know this part of Bangalore, the crowded streets and the laborers moving goods around are a familiar sight. The day starts early, usually around 9:30, to beat some of the heaviest traffic, though the noise never really stops. Inside, the shop is filled with stock from floor to ceiling. There isn’t much room to move around, but the exact location of every item is known to us. Our history in Huriopet goes back a long way. Neighbors here are mostly other businessmen who have stayed for decades. Conversations about market prices and the weather happen while waiting for deliveries. It gets loud with the horns and the shouting outside, but you get used to it after a week or two. The staff isn't big, just the family and maybe one helper who knows the ropes. Whatever comes our way is dealt with, whether it is a small order or a big one. Standing on your feet most of the day is hard work, but it’s what we do. Not much else matters besides keeping the stock moving and making sure the accounts are right at the end of the day. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us going and we wouldn't know what else to do with our time.
