Manjunath Auto Electricals And Battery Works is situated on Magadi Main Road Phase 4. It’s easy to spot because we usually have a few cars or bikes parked out front with their hoods up. The shop smells like grease and old batteries, which is pretty much what you’d expect. We have tools scattered across the workbenches and some old calendars pinned to the walls. It’s a working shop, not a showroom. We spend most of our time under cars or testing batteries with the old equipment we’ve had for years. It still works fine, so we don't see a reason to get anything new. The floor has some oil stains that won't ever come out, no matter how much we scrub. Magadi Main Road is a busy place, so there’s always someone stopping by with a dead battery or a light that won’t turn on. We just take a look and see what can be done. Some jobs take ten minutes, others take half the day. We don’t have a waiting room, just a couple of plastic chairs outside in the shade for people to sit. It’s a noisy, dusty job but it’s what we know how to do. We usually have grease under our fingernails by the end of the shift. We close up when the work is finished, usually quite late in the evening. It’s just how it goes here for us every day of the week.
