Mahesh Auto Electricals & Battery Works

Mahesh Auto Electricals & Battery Works has been sitting here at Vijaya Nagar 2082/A for quite a while now. Most days start early when someone’s car won't turn over, and they come looking for a jump or a new battery. The shop isn't fancy at all. There are stacks of old casings in the corner and a workbench that’s seen better days, covered in grease and bits of wire. We spend a lot of time hunched over engines or testing alternators with the old multimeter. Sometimes the rain gets in a bit through the front, but we just move the stock back and keep working. People from around the block know they can just drop by when their headlights go dim or if a fuse pops. It’s mostly just me and a couple of others here, wiping oil off our hands on old rags. We don’t have a big sign or anything, just the work we do. There’s always some tea cooling on a ledge somewhere while we finish up a job. It gets busy during the monsoon because batteries tend to give up then. The street outside is noisy, but you get used to the sound of traffic while you’re tightening terminals. We don’t do much fancy talking, just look at what’s broken and see if we can get the power running again. It’s honest work and keeps the neighborhood moving. The floor is stained but it works.
