M. S. Ramaiah Hospital

M. S. Ramaiah Hospital is a huge place right in the middle of MSR Nagar. It is always crowded around here. I have worked in this building for quite a while now, and you really do see everything. Because it is such a large facility, people are often getting lost trying to find specific wings or the right department for their tests. We spend a good portion of our day just pointing visitors toward the elevators or the various labs. The canteen near the back always starts smelling like sambar and rice around noon, which is how we know it is time for a break. This isn't like one of those shiny private hospitals you see in magazines; it is a very busy, working hospital. There is always someone moving a trolley or carrying a stack of medical records down the halls. The parking lot usually fills up by nine in the morning, which can be a real headache for the staff and the visitors. We have doctors coming and going at all hours. The hallways are long and the floors are scrubbed white, and sometimes the air conditioning gets a bit too cold in certain spots near the entrance. It really feels like a small city inside these walls. Patients come here from all over, not just from the local neighborhood. You hear a lot of different languages being spoken in the waiting areas. It gets pretty tiring, especially on Monday mornings when the queues are long and the lobby is packed.
