Likitha Transformers

Being up on the 4th floor of Barton Centre in the Peenya Industrial Area makes for a lot of trips up and down. The address is 84 24 3, and it’s right in the middle of all the factories and warehouses. It gets pretty loud around here with all the industrial work going on downstairs. We deal with transformers, so there’s always bits of wire and heavy components sitting around on the workbenches. The air smells like oil and hot metal most of the time. It’s not the easiest place to get to if the elevator is acting up, which happens more often than we’d like. There is an old metal table we use for assembly work that has one leg shorter than the others, so we use a piece of cardboard to keep it steady. The windows look out over the other industrial rooftops, and it’s a lot of grey and rust out there. We usually start early to avoid the worst of the heat, though it still gets stuffy by midday. It’s just us doing the work, checking connections and making sure everything is put together right. We don't have a fancy showroom, just the workspace where the actual jobs get done. Sometimes clients come up to check on their orders and we have to clear a space for them to stand. It’s a practical setup for the kind of work we do every day.
