We’ve been at Plot No. 93 in Byrasandra for a good few years now. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main roads. My brother and I usually open up the shutters around nine in the morning. We do a lot of general trading, so you never really know what the day will bring. One day we are counting out small parts and the next we are trying to fit a huge crate through the door. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to stop. We have a couple of guys who help with the loading and unloading. We mostly deal with people we’ve known for a decade. It’s a lot of handwritten notes and dusty shelves. Byrasandra has changed, but our corner feels pretty much the same as it always did. We don't do much advertising. People usually just find us because they were told we had what they needed. The tea stall around the corner is where we spend our breaks. Sometimes the ledger doesn't match the stock and we have to spend the whole evening counting things again. It’s just the way it is. We aren't looking to change the world, just keeping the business moving and making sure the orders go out on time. We usually head home once the sun goes down and the street lights come on.
