You can find us at 179 Jumma Masjid Road, right in the middle of Shivaji Nagar. Koshish Herbal Beauty Parlour has been around this part of Bangalore for a long time now. We focus on using products that are not full of harsh chemicals. A lot of the ladies around here prefer that for their skin and hair. The street outside is always noisy and crowded with traffic but inside it is a bit calmer. We have a small space where we do threading and facials and henna. It is not one of those big fancy salons you see in the malls. We use simple tools and traditional ways of doing things. Some people come in just for the herbal hair packs we mix up ourselves. It gets really busy during the festival seasons because everyone wants their mehendi done. We try our best to manage the crowd during those times. The room is decorated with a few old pictures and some product bottles on the racks. It is a bit cramped when three or four people are waiting but nobody seems to mind much. We talk a lot while we work, mostly about the local markets or family things. It is a very local Bangalore kind of place. We do not use much electricity except for the lights and an occasional hair dryer. Most of our work is done by hand. It is an honest little business we have built up over the years on this busy street.
