If you go down to Old Thargupet 8, you'll find Karnataka Plastics. It’s right in the heart of the old trading district, so it’s always crowded and busy. We deal with all kinds of plastic goods, from buckets to bags and whatever else people need for their shops or homes. The building is old, like most things in this part of town. We have stuff stacked all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it's a bit hard to navigate the aisles, but we know where every single item is kept. The air usually smells a bit like new plastic. We’ve been here for years, watching the street outside get busier and busier. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving crates around. We don't have a website or anything like that; people usually just find us by walking through the market. Most of our customers are other shopkeepers who buy in bulk. We spend a lot of time haggling and writing out receipts by hand. It’s a loud place with trucks constantly trying to squeeze through the narrow lane at number 8. We usually have tea twice a day and just keep working through the heat. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. The floor is concrete and a bit cracked in places. We just focus on keeping the stock moving and making sure the counts are right at the end of the day. It’s a busy life in Old Thargupet, but we like the pace.
