Kanishka Hotel

We’ve been here in Gandhinagar for a while now, right on the 2nd Main. If you walk past the Buddha Temple, you’ll see our place, No. 2. It’s a busy spot, honestly. There’s always someone shouting outside or a rickshaw honking its horn at the corner. We spend most of our mornings just getting things ready for whoever is checking in. The rooms are what they are, nothing too fancy, but they stay clean. Sometimes the lift acts up, but we get it sorted eventually. My desk is right by the front door, so I see everyone coming in. It gets pretty loud during the day because of all the shops around us. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us making sure people have their keys and some water. Most people stay here because it’s close to the main market area. I usually have my tea while watching the traffic build up outside around ten o’clock. The building has some age to it, you can tell by the tiles and the way the stairs are worn down a bit in the middle. We just keep going, day after day, keeping things moving along. It’s not a quiet life being in this part of town, but it’s what we know. The 560009 area code is basically my whole world some weeks. We just try to keep the lights on and the rooms ready for the next person.
