Jogendar Industries is tucked away in Padarayanapura on the 4th Cross of Hosahalli Main Road. We are at 22/2, and it is a noisy place because of the metalwork we do. The shop floor is always covered in a bit of metal shavings and oil, no matter how much we sweep it at the end of the shift. We have a couple of lathe machines and a heavy press that take up most of the room. The sound of grinding and cutting metal fills the air from eight in the morning until we shut down. My clothes usually have a few small burn holes from the sparks, and my hands stay rough from handling the raw iron and steel rods. We make small parts for other businesses, mostly things like brackets and custom bolts. It is a small team here, just me and three other guys working the machines. We have a small office area blocked off by a thin plywood partition where we keep the blueprints and the tea kettle. The lighting isn't great, so we have those bright halogen lamps over the workbenches. When the rain comes down on the tin roof, you can't hear a word anyone is saying. It is hard work and the air is often hot and smells like burnt oil. We don't have a fancy showroom, just a loading area where the tempo comes to pick up the finished crates. We just keep our heads down and get the parts made.
