You can find Jai Shri Balaji Granites & Marbles out on Jigani Road, near the Sarla Birla Academy. We are at No. 57 in the Champakadhama Layout. This area is famous for stone, so we are surrounded by many others doing the same thing. The road out here is often full of heavy trucks and dust, especially when the wind picks up. Our yard is where we spend most of our time, walking between the rows of marble and granite slabs. We have to check every piece that comes in from the quarries. Bannerghatta is a bit far from the main city, so it feels a little more open here, even with all the industry. We have a small office shed where we sit when the sun is too hot. There is a lot of talk about prices and dimensions every day. We use a lot of water to wash down the stones so customers can see the real colors and patterns hidden under the dust. The academy nearby is a big landmark, and sometimes the traffic gets backed up when school lets out. We just keep our heads down and focus on the loading and unloading. It is hard work on the back and the shoulders, but it is what we know. We have been in this spot for a while and the locals know where to find us. It’s just a regular operation.
