J K Painters

My name is part of J K Painters and we operate out of the Yellappa Compound in Konankunte. It is a simple place, number 38/8 to be exact. We usually have paint on our clothes by noon every day. That is just how it goes when you are working with brushes and rollers all the time. It is not a clean job, but we like it that way. We spend most of our time out at different work sites, but the compound is where we keep all the ladders and paint tins. Dealing with the weather can be a bit of a pain for us. If it rains, everything slows down and we have to wait. But when it is sunny, we are out there from sunrise until it gets dark. We are not big talkers. We just show up and start working on the walls. It is honest work that keeps us moving. Sometimes the colors do not look exactly like the small paper scraps customers show us, so we have to mix them again until it looks right. Neighbors in the compound see us coming and going with our buckets and gear. It has been our base for a long time. We know the streets around here very well. We do not have a big office with air conditioning. Our office is basically wherever we happen to be painting that day. It keeps us on our feet and we just try to keep things steady.
