J H Battery Works is right on Kamalanagar Main Road 1 in Nagawara. You can’t miss it if you’re driving past the main junction. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The shop is full of batteries of all sizes, from the little ones for bikes to the big heavy ones for trucks and inverters. There’s always that slightly sharp smell of acid and lead in the air. It’s a small space, so things are stacked pretty high. We spend a lot of time charging up old batteries or testing them to see if they’re still good. Sometimes people come in thinking they need a new one, but we just clean the terminals and they’re good to go. We’re not here to sell you something you don’t need. It’s just me and a couple of helpers most days. The floor is concrete and we’ve got tools scattered across the benches. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where the jumpers are. The traffic on Kamalanagar Main Road is always loud, so we have to shout sometimes to be heard over the trucks. We don’t have a fancy waiting room. You just stand by the counter or sit on a plastic chair if one is free. We’ve seen all sorts of vehicles come through here. It’s a basic trade, but it keeps us busy from morning till the shutters go down at night.
