Our place is over on H Siddaiah Road 151. It’s a busy street, so there’s always noise from the traffic outside. Inside the shop, it usually smells like lead and acid, which you get used to after a couple of days. We spend a lot of time lifting heavy batteries and checking voltages. My back feels it by the end of the week, honestly. We have these old charging racks that hum all day long. It's a bit of a cramped space because of all the stock we keep. Sometimes people come in quite stressed because their car or scooter died in the middle of a trip. We just do what we can to get them sorted out. It’s not a shiny showroom or anything like that. There’s grease on the floor and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it works for what we do. We’ve got a small bench where we sit for lunch when it isn't too busy. Most of the regulars are mechanics from nearby or people living in the neighborhood. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the equipment. Every morning we roll up the shutter and start the same routine. It's honest work, and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up at night. We’ve been here for many years and the street has changed around us, but we just stay focused on the batteries.
