Hulhule Island Hotel, Maldives

It might seem a bit strange that an office for a hotel in the Maldives is located here in Bangalore, but that’s where we are. We are at 1138, 16th B Main, right opposite the Whizz Photo Studio in Yelahanka New Town. It’s a busy corner of 560064. I spend my days here handling the Indian side of things for the Hulhule Island Hotel. It’s a lot of coordinating for people who are planning their trips or asking about the facilities. Yelahanka is quite far from the airport here in Bangalore, ironically, even though the hotel we represent is right by the airport in the Maldives. The office is just a regular room with some desks and a coffee machine that barely works. I’ve been working here for a few years now. Outside the window, I see the photo studio and all the people walking by in the market. It’s a very different vibe from the white sand beaches we talk about on the phone. We don't have fancy brochures everywhere, just the essential info. People call in with all kinds of questions about flights and rooms. We just try to give them the right answers without making things too complicated. It’s just me and a couple of others most days. We focus on getting the details right so the travelers don't have any trouble when they finally land on the island. It keeps us busy.
