Hotel Shalimar

Being on B.V.K. Iyengar Road means we are right in the middle of everything in Bangalore. The traffic outside is legendary, and there is always a crowd of people moving towards the markets or the bus stops. Our hotel is inside Dadlani Tower at number 126. It’s a tall building and we occupy our part of it, providing a bit of a break from the heat and the noise outside. The lobby isn't very big, and sometimes it gets crowded with luggage when a few people check in at once. We get a lot of businessmen who are here to buy or sell things in the surrounding wholesale markets. They don't need luxury; they just need a place that is close to the shops and has a working shower. We’ve kept the furniture for a long time, so it has that lived-in feel. The elevators sometimes take a minute to arrive, but they get you there safely enough. We don't have a fancy restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat just outside the door. Our staff works hard to keep the rooms tidy, though the city dust always tries to find its way in. It’s a busy, functional place for busy, functional people. We don't pretend to be a resort. We are just a hotel on a very busy road in a very big city. It’s been that way for years and we just keep doing our thing.
