Hotel Poornima

Started here in Wilson Garden at number 448 a long time ago. The building is older now and the paint on the walls isn't as bright as it was when we first opened the doors. People mostly come in because they are walking by on their way to work or they live just down the road. We keep the tables wiped down but they have scratches from years of plates sliding across them. Every morning the shutters go up around the same time and the street outside starts getting loud with the buses and cars. It gets dusty pretty fast with all the traffic out there. We just go about the day, getting things ready and making sure there is enough for whoever walks in. Sometimes it is quiet in the afternoon and we just sit by the window and watch the people go by. It isn't a fancy place and we don't try to make it look like something it's not. The fans on the ceiling hum quite a bit and sometimes they need a little tap to stop rattling. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, with new shops coming and going while we just stay here at this same spot. It’s just how it goes for us. There’s a routine to everything, from the way we handle the money at the counter to the way the floor gets mopped at night before we go home.
