Hotel Malnad

Down in Wilson Garden on 12th Main, you will find Hotel Malnad at number 273. We aren't really a hotel where people stay the night, even though the name sounds like it. It's more of an eatery where you get proper local food from our home region. We try to bring those specific mountain flavors to this busy part of the city. The place is usually full of steam and the constant sound of metal plates clattering together. We have some old wooden benches and tables that have definitely seen better days. It isn't the kind of place you would go for a fancy birthday or a date, but it works perfectly if you want a heavy, honest meal. I usually stand by the counter handling the cash while my cousins work the busy kitchen in the back. We get our vegetables very early in the morning from the big market nearby. Sometimes we have to close the shutters early if we run out of the main curry for the day. The regulars don't seem to mind too much; they just come back the next morning. We don't really have a menu that stays the same every day. It mostly depends on what is available and fresh at the market. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the ceiling fans are a bit noisy, but nobody seems to care once the food arrives at the table. It’s just a honest little place. We don't do anything for social media or publicity. We just serve food until the pots are empty.
