Hotel Grand Ashok

In RT Nagar, specifically over in Manjunatha Layout at No 29, you’ll find our place. E Raju is the name on the papers, and we’ve been operating Hotel Grand Ashok here in Bangalore for a good stretch of time. The address can be a bit confusing for delivery drivers because of the old number 1336, but once they find the layout, it’s easy enough. We aren't one of those massive hotels you see downtown with the glass walls. This is more of a local building where we know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby. The morning traffic in Bangalore is something else, so it usually starts getting noisy early outside our windows. We do our own maintenance for the most part, so if a tap leaks, one of us is usually under the sink with a wrench pretty fast. It’s a practical way to live and work. We have some regulars who have been coming here for years whenever they are in the city. The lobby is small, and we have a lot of plants that need watering every morning. It feels more like a house than a business sometimes, which is fine by us. We just keep the rooms open and try to be helpful if someone asks for directions to the main road or a good place to eat.
