Hotel Chalukya

Hotel Chalukya is located at 44, Race Course Road. We are right by the Basaveswara Circle, so the traffic is something we deal with every single day. You can hear the cars and bikes zooming past from early morning until very late. The area is 560001, which is right in the middle of everything in the city. The building itself is quite old and has that solid feel to it. We spend a lot of time sweeping the entrance because of all the leaves that blow in from the trees on the street. Inside, the lights are a bit yellow and the hallways are long. We have a routine of checking the pipes and making sure the water is running right. It’s not a quiet place, but that is just how it is on this road. People come in with their suitcases, and we write their names in the book at the front desk. The furniture in the common area is made of heavy wood. Sometimes we have to fix a door handle or change a bulb that flickered out. We don't have any big posters or bright lights outside. The air here usually smells a bit like exhaust fumes and rain. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front windows directly, making the lobby quite bright. We just keep things moving, making sure the rooms are ready for whoever arrives next from the circle. It’s just how we do things here.
