Heera Traders

Heera Traders is located at 17/13 in the Yeshwantpur APMC Yard. Anyone who has been to the APMC yard knows it is a world of its own. It is full of trucks, laborers carrying heavy sacks, and the smell of various grains and produce. We’ve been operating from 17/13 for many years. Our space is basically a large godown with a small area for us to sit and do our paperwork. It is often quite dusty because of all the goods moving in and out. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy furniture, just a couple of wooden tables and some chairs. The work starts very early in the morning when the first trucks arrive. We spend our time checking the quality of the stock and talking to the people who come to buy. It’s a lot of haggling and checking weights on the scales. Sometimes the yard gets so congested that the trucks can't even move, and everything slows down. We just deal with it as it comes. There’s no corporate hierarchy here; we all just pitch in to get the bags moved and the sales recorded. Our customers are mostly other traders or people who buy in bulk. We’ve known some of them for decades. It is a very simple, direct way of doing business. We stay here until the market starts to quiet down in the late afternoon. It’s just how life is in the Yeshwantpur market area.
