It’s another noisy day here at 490 D in the Peenya Industrial Area. This part of the city isn't meant for relaxing. It is built for hard work and that is exactly what we do. There are no fancy decorations or quiet corners here. You just hear the sound of metal being cut and the heavy thud of machines. We have been running this industrial unit for a long time. The concrete floor is stained with oil and there is always that smell of coolant and burnt metal in the air. We make various parts for other companies in the area. Some are large factories and some are just small shops like ours. Our machines have been with us for a long time. They might look old but they work just fine because we take care of them ourselves. We don't have a lobby or a receptionist. If you want to talk to us, you just walk past the machines to the back where we keep the desk. It gets very hot in the afternoons under this roof, but we have some big fans that move the air around a bit. Most of the workers here have been with us for many years now. We usually eat our lunch together in a corner away from the noise. We go home every evening with grease under our fingernails and tired backs. That is just how life is in Peenya and we are used to it.
