Explora Granites

Seshadripuram Bazaar Street is always crowded and noisy, especially since we are right across from the Seshadripuram College. Our shop at number 35 is full of heavy stone slabs. Granite is very heavy stuff, so moving even one piece around is a two-person job at the very least. We have all kinds of different colors and patterns leaning against the walls. It gets quite dusty in here when we are cutting pieces to size for a customer. You can hear the college students talking and laughing outside all day, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of stone being moved or polished. We’ve stayed in this spot for many years because everyone knows where the bazaar is. People come in looking for something for their new kitchen or maybe a bathroom floor. We just show them what we have in stock at the moment. Some pieces are really dark and others have lots of grey or red swirls in them. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights and carpets. It’s just the slabs sitting there so you can see exactly what you’re getting. Sometimes a big shipment comes in and the whole street gets blocked for a while while we offload the truck. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s just how life is on this street. We spend our time checking for cracks. It’s solid, basic work. When the sun hits the slabs in the morning, you can see the grain.
