Running a battery shop in Rajaji Nagar keeps us on our feet. We are located at the 2nd Cross in the 3rd Stage, right on the 5th Main. Kattarguppa 361 is where we keep all the stock. Most people come to us when their car won't start in the morning or when their home backup goes dead. It’s usually an urgent situation for them. We have a lot of heavy batteries stacked up, so there's not much room to walk around inside. The air always smells a bit like lead and plastic, which you stop noticing after the first week. We spend a lot of time out on the sidewalk checking under people's car hoods. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of the shop. We’ve got a couple of benches where customers can sit if they have to wait for a charge or a test. We deal with all sorts of vehicles, from small scooters to big trucks. Rajaji Nagar is a residential area mostly, so we know a lot of the neighbors. They stop by just to say hello or ask for a quick checkup on their inverter. We don’t do much advertising; people just see the Exide sign and turn in. It’s a messy job sometimes, getting grease on your hands, but it’s honest work. We stay open until late evening because that’s when most people get home from work and realize their battery is dead.
