Down in the Jigani Industrial Area, specifically at number 86, is where Engineered Polymers India Pvt Ltd is located. It is quite a drive to get out here from the city, especially with all the trucks on the road. The air is always thick with the sound of other factories and the smell of materials being processed. Inside our walls, it is mostly about the machines. They run for long stretches and can be quite loud, so we have to shout sometimes to be heard. We work with polymers and it’s a messy business. There are always scraps on the floor and big bags of raw material waiting to be used. It gets very hot near the machines during the summer months. We don’t have a fancy reception area or a lot of decorations on the walls. It is a functional space meant for making things. Most of the staff has been here for years and we all know our routines. We eat our lunch together in a small side room and talk about the news or the commute. The paperwork piles up on the desks and we try to stay on top of it, but the production floor is where the real action happens. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep the machines running and handle the orders as they come in.
