We are located at Kamala Nilayam, right on the 2nd Cross in Chikkana Garden. It’s a bit tucked away near the Shankar Matth in Chamrajpet. The streets around here can be quite narrow, especially when a truck is trying to deliver a fresh load of granite. Eastern King Granites Pvt. Ltd. has been part of this neighborhood for a while. It’s a family-run kind of feel, even if the name sounds a bit bigger. We handle mostly granite. It’s tough material, much heavier than you’d think. Our day usually involves checking the slabs for cracks or weird spots in the grain. We keep the yard as tidy as possible, but granite dust gets everywhere. It’s on the chairs, the table, even in our hair sometimes. People come in from all over Chamrajpet looking for something that will last a lifetime in their homes. We don’t do big sales pitches. We just show what’s on the racks. Some pieces have really nice patterns, others are just plain and solid. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating with the drivers and the site workers. It can be stressful when a delivery is late because of the traffic on the main road, but that’s just living in this part of the city. We sit out front when it’s quiet and just watch the neighborhood go by. It’s a decent way to make a living.
