The workshop is located in the HMT Layout area of Mathikere, which has changed quite a bit since we first started coming here. Custom Process is at No.79 on the I Cross, and it’s a fairly busy little pocket of the neighborhood. Inside, you’ll mostly hear the steady rhythm of machines and the occasional clatter of metal pieces being moved around. There is always a faint smell of grease and cutting oil in the air, which stays on your clothes long after you leave for the day. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist; you basically walk right into the middle of where the work is happening. The desks in the small office corner are piled high with papers and technical drawings that have coffee stains on the edges. The ceiling fans spin fast to keep the air moving, but it still gets pretty warm during the summer months. Most of our day is spent looking at measurements or checking the output from the machines to make sure everything looks right. We have our lunch together in the back where it’s a bit quieter away from the noise of the street. Mathikere is a crowded place, and finding parking near the cross can be a real struggle some mornings. We have been in this spot for a long time, and the walls have that grayish tint that comes with years of industrial work. It is just a place where things get made and the work is constant.
