About Centurion Battery House – Energy in Bengaluru
Over at Centurion Battery House in Koramangala, specifically on the 10th & 11th Cross Sampige Road 957, things are usually pretty heavy. And I mean that literally because batteries weigh a lot. We have them stacked up along the walls, mostly for cars, bikes, and those home inverters people use when the power goes out. The shop always has that faint smell of lead and plastic. It is not the most glamorous place to work, but it is necessary. I spend a lot of time testing old batteries to see if they can still hold a charge or if they are just dead for good. My hands are usually a bit dirty from the grease and terminals. Koramangala is a trendy area now with lots of cafes, but our little stretch of Sampige Road still feels like the old days. We have a small bench outside where customers wait while we swap out their car battery. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the back door, so we have to move the stock around. I have a helper who does the heavy lifting, but I still do all the talking and the bills. We don't have a big website or anything, just the sign out front that has been there for years. People know us for being straightforward about whether a battery is actually broken or just needs a good charge. It is a long day, but it keeps me busy and the bills are paid.
