S. D. N Granite & Marbles

S. D. N Granite & Marbles is situated at No. 56 on the 14th Cross of G. K. Layout in C. K. Nagar. We are on Hosa Road, and a good landmark for us is the Sujana Convent which is quite close by. Our shop is mostly an open space where we keep the marble and granite stock. The 14th Cross is a bit narrow, so it’s always an adventure when the big trucks come in to drop off new slabs. We have to coordinate with the neighbors to make sure we aren’t blocking the whole street. Most of our day involves using the overhead hoist to move the heavy stones around without scratching them. We have a small shack that serves as our office, but we spend most of our time out on the floor. It’s a dirty job, and we usually go home with dusty boots and sore backs. We don't have a fancy display area; the stones are just stood up in rows. Customers usually come in with their architects to pick out exactly which slab they want for their flooring or counters. We try to keep the place organized, but with so much heavy material, there’s always a bit of a mess. It’s a local operation, and we know many of the families who live in the C. K. Nagar area because they stop by when they’re building.
