Bombay Beauty Saloon

Bombay Beauty Saloon is over in Cox Town, tucked into the Shankar Jyothi Apartment building on North Road. It is not a very big place, just a simple spot where we do hair and face work for the people living nearby. You can see the military ground from around here, so it is a pretty quiet part of Bangalore most days. We have been here for a bit now, and the mirrors have seen a lot of faces. Sometimes it gets a bit busy on the weekends when everyone has a day off, and the small waiting area fills up with neighbors chatting. We keep the towels clean and the combs ready. It isn't anything fancy with bright lights or loud music, just a regular shop where you can sit down and get your threading or a haircut done. Most of the folks who come in are from the apartments around Dodkunte or people walking back from the main road. The fans stay on all day because Bangalore can get a bit stuffy in the afternoons. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes magazines get left on the chairs. It is just a local business run by people who live nearby. There is nothing complicated about how we work. We open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person to knock. It feels like home to us after all these years of being in this corner.
