Our building has been here for a long time, and you can see it in the architecture and the narrow staircases. Working in Gandhi Bazaar means you are always surrounded by the smell of spices, the sound of porters moving crates, and people haggling over prices. Our office is just a small slice of that chaos. We have stacks of old ledgers and a few computers that have seen better days. It is a family-style atmosphere where we drink tea together and talk about the news while we work. We don't have a website or anything like that because most of our business comes from the people we have known for decades in this very street. The old number 26 is still painted on the door even though the address has technically changed over the years. We like the history of the place. It feels like we are part of the brick and mortar of the street itself. Every day is a bit different depending on who walks through the door, but the overall feeling of the market stays the same. It is a hard-working environment but very rewarding. It can get a bit stuffy in the summer so we keep several fans going at once just to keep the air moving while we work through the stacks of orders.
