Balaji Marble & Granites

You’ll find us at Hebbal D R Lane 93/94. It is tucked away a bit, so you have to keep an eye out for the turn. We deal with marble and granites, which means everything is heavy and cold to the touch. The yard is full of big slabs leaning against each other. Some have nice patterns and others are just plain, but they all weigh a ton. We spend a lot of time moving these around with the crane or by hand if they’re smaller pieces. There is always the sound of water and saws because someone is usually cutting something to size. The floor is always wet and there is stone dust everywhere. It gets in your hair and your clothes. We aren't big on fancy talk. We just show people what we have in the yard and tell them the price. It’s a simple way to do things. The sun hits the stone in the afternoon and makes it look different, which is interesting to see. We have a small office where we sit when it rains. Hebbal is a busy part of the city, but back here in the lane, it feels a bit different. It’s just a place where we cut stone and load it onto trucks for whoever needs it. Nothing more to it than that. We just work hard and go home. Usually, we are tired, but the work is steady.
