Adugodi is a busy place and our office in Vinayaka Nagar at number 3 is right in the thick of it. The street is always full of people going to the temple or the market. We have a small desk and a couple of chairs that have seen better days. Most of what we do involves talking to people and trying to source what they’re looking for. It gets a bit chaotic with all the paperwork piled up, but we know where everything is, mostly. The Jalakanteshwara Pura area has changed a lot lately, but our corner stays pretty much the same. We have an old clock on the wall that runs five minutes fast, but we never bother to fix it. It's just a place where we sit and handle the daily tasks of the business. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit by the doorway to get some light. We don't have any fancy decorations, just a few files and a telephone that rings more than we’d like. It’s a lot of coordinating and making sure the deliveries arrive at the right place. We just try to get through the list of things to do before the sun goes down. It’s a regular job in a regular part of Bangalore. We usually close early on Saturdays to go home and rest. The building is old and the stairs are narrow, so we don't like carrying heavy stuff up here. It is just a simple, honest way to make a living in the city.
