Apex Hardware & Paints

Apex Hardware & Paints is right here at Shop 24 on Godown Street. If you know the Old City Market area, you know how busy it gets with all the carts and people moving around all day. We spend most of our mornings just moving tins of paint and heavy boxes of hardware around so people can actually walk inside. The shelves are pretty packed and there is always a layer of dust on the top ones that we try to keep up with. It is a small space but we fit a lot in. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot over the market. We have been here long enough that we know most of the guys who come in for their daily supplies. Sometimes we are hunting for one specific screw or a particular shade of blue for someone who isn't quite sure what they want. It gets loud outside with the traffic, but inside it is just the sound of the fan and people talking about their home repairs. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just rows of stuff and us behind the counter trying to keep everything organized in our heads. Usually, by the time we close up, the floor is covered in footprints from the street. It’s just how it goes when you’re in this part of town. We keep things simple here.
