We are set up at Plot No. 10-13 in Phase II of the Jigani Industrial Area. It’s a large space because the textile machinery we deal with takes up a lot of room. There is always a lot of metal and parts laying around. We spend our time assembling things and checking that the mechanical bits are moving like they should. It’s a mix of different skills here, with some of us focusing on the heavy frames and others on the smaller parts. The industrial area is quite a drive for some of us, but we’re used to it. The canteen is where we usually catch up on things during breaks. We aren't much for corporate slogans; we just care about whether the machines work at the end of the day. Sometimes a shipment of parts is late and that throws a wrench in the schedule, but we just adjust and keep going. It can get pretty loud when everything is running at once, so we do a lot of nodding and pointing to communicate. It's a straightforward job. We take the orders, put the machines together, and get them shipped out. Most of us have been in the textile industry for years, so it feels like second nature now. It’s just how we earn our living. The concrete floors are hard on the feet, but you get used to it after a while. We stay busy with the tools and keep the floor moving.
